What is sine, cosine and tangent, and how do you calculate them here?
Sine, cosine and tangent are trigonometric functions that relate an angle in a right triangle to the ratios between its sides — sine is the opposite side over the hypotenuse, cosine is the adjacent side over the hypotenuse, and tangent is the opposite side over the adjacent side. Enter the angle in degrees (not radians, which this calculator doesn't use, since degrees are the more familiar unit for everyday trigonometry) and press the sin, cos or tan button to get the result instantly.
How do you find a square root or a power?
Enter the number and press the √ button for a square root — for example, √25 returns 5 — or press x² to square a number instead. There's no dedicated button for other powers beyond squaring, so for a cube or higher power, multiply the number by itself the number of times you need.
Is an online scientific calculator actually accurate?

Where did the scientific calculator come from?
Before 1972, anyone needing quick trigonometry or square roots reached for a slide rule — a centuries-old mechanical tool, not an electronic one. That changed on January 4, 1972, when Hewlett-Packard launched the HP-35, the world's first handheld scientific calculator, built after HP co-founder Bill Hewlett challenged his engineers to fit a full slide rule's worth of functions into something that would fit in his shirt pocket. Nicknamed "the electronic slide rule," it sold over 300,000 units in its first three years despite a steep price tag, and its descendants went on to sell more than 20 million units — effectively ending the slide rule's dominance and setting the template every scientific calculator, including this one, still follows today.
